Abstract
A decade after the Paris Agreement set the world on a path to limit global warming to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels, nations face a stark reckoning: greenhouse-gas emissions remain near record highs even as clean-energy investment surpasses $1.7 trillion annually. This article examines the structural forces accelerating and obstructing the energy transition, assesses the geopolitics of climate finance, and argues that the decisive decade of the 2020s will determine whether the crossroads leads to transformation or irreversible overshoot.
